Arts in Education

The Acadiana Arts Council's Arts in Education program strives to make quality arts-in-education opportunities available to administrators, educators and students through performance, hands-on arts experiences, professional development training in the arts and funding. These co-curricular arts-in-education offerings are available to students in grades K-12 and to teachers of all disciplines.

Bright New Worlds

You can bring some of the top creative minds in the area directly to your classroom with Bright New Worlds. This program allows students to be exposed to a broad range of arts activities provided by visiting professional artists. Bright New Worlds artists go through a careful screening process based on the quality of their work and professional reputation, and on the educational and entertainment value of the activities they offer. These artists present a variety of arts experiences ranging from hands-on folklife and visual arts activities to music and creative movement workshops, all of which are designed as interdisciplinary learning adventures that connect real-life experience to academic instruction.

For contact information for the BNW artists, call or email Bree at 337.233.7060 or Bree@AcadianaArtsCouncil.org.

Allocated funding is available to each Lafayette Parish public school. Information is available through your Arts Liason teacher. Funding is limited and the deadline for scheduling is in January of the school year, so you should schedule early.

Educators in other parishes may apply for Decetralized Arts Grants, or even seek sponsorship from local businesses, individuals, or organizations, since the cost is so low and the benefits so high.
